What the currency setting actually does

Every warehouse (branch) in StockFlow has a currency setting, chosen from six supported codes: EUR, USD, GBP, INR, GHC, and IDR. That setting controls how prices are formatted and displayed throughout the app — the currency symbol, decimal handling, and locale-appropriate formatting.

This is a display setting, not a multi-currency accounting system. StockFlow does not track exchange rates, convert amounts between currencies, or let a single product carry a cost in one currency and a sale price in another. If you change the currency setting, existing numeric values are displayed with the new currency's formatting they are not converted to reflect an equivalent value in the new currency.

  • Six supported currencies: EUR, USD, GBP, INR, GHC, IDR
  • Set per warehouse/branch, not per product or per transaction
  • Controls formatting and symbol display only, everywhere prices appear
  • No exchange-rate conversion changing the setting does not convert existing values

Who this fits and who it does not

This works well for a business that operates in a single currency but wants prices displayed correctly for their market a UK business wanting £ instead of $, for example. It does not fit a business that needs to genuinely operate in multiple currencies simultaneously: selling in USD to some customers while paying suppliers in EUR, or running warehouses in different countries that each transact in their local currency with real conversion between them.

If your business needs true multi-currency accounting exchange rates, conversion, and reporting that consolidates different currencies into one view StockFlow does not provide that today. You would need to standardize your StockFlow records on one currency and handle conversion in your accounting system, or treat this as a gap to confirm before adopting StockFlow for that use case.

Frequently asked questions

Does StockFlow support multiple currencies at the same time?
Not simultaneously. Each warehouse has one currency setting at a time, chosen from EUR, USD, GBP, INR, GHC, or IDR. It is a display/formatting setting, not multi-currency accounting there is no support for a product having a cost in one currency and a price in another.
Does changing the currency setting convert my existing prices?
No. Changing the currency changes how numbers are formatted and displayed (symbol, decimals) it does not apply an exchange rate to convert the underlying values. A price of "10" displayed as "$10" before the change will display as whatever the new currency's symbol is after, still showing the number 10.
Which currencies does StockFlow support?
Six: EUR (Euro), USD (US Dollar), GBP (British Pound), INR (Indian Rupee), GHC (Ghana Cedi), and IDR (Indonesian Rupiah).
Can different warehouses in my account use different currencies?
Yes, the currency setting is per warehouse/branch, so different locations can each display in their own currency. There is no conversion or consolidated cross-currency reporting between them, though each branch's data displays correctly for that branch.
Does StockFlow track exchange rates?
No. StockFlow does not fetch, store, or apply exchange rates. If you need to convert between currencies for reporting or accounting, that needs to happen outside StockFlow today.
