Letters, numbers, and most symbols any length.
Which format should I use?
For internal warehouse and inventory tracking, use Code 128 — it encodes any SKU (letters, numbers, dashes) at any length, and any modern barcode scanner reads it without special configuration. There is no registration requirement to use Code 128 for internal-use barcodes.
Use EAN-13 or UPC-A only if you are labeling retail products for point-of-sale scanning through a registered retailer or marketplace, since those formats are built around a globally-unique, manufacturer-registered number with a check digit see the GS1 barcode standards guide for how that numbering works.
Print these barcodes on real inventory labels
StockFlow generates and prints barcode labels tied to your actual product records, with a mobile scanner app to match.
