What's in the template
This cycle count schedule assigns a zone or SKU range to a specific week, an ABC tier, and a counter, then tracks whether it was actually completed on time and whether the count found a variance.
The idea behind ABC tiering: A-tier items (your highest-value or fastest-moving stock) get counted most often, B-tier less often, and C-tier least often — so counting effort matches how much a mistake on that item actually costs you.
Columns explained
| Week | The scheduled week number within the counting cycle. |
| Zone | The physical area or category being counted that week. |
| ABC_Tier | A, B, or C — sets how often this zone should recur in the schedule. |
| SKU_Range_or_Category | Which SKUs fall inside this zone's count. |
| Assigned_To | Who is responsible for completing this count. |
| Scheduled_Date | The date the count is due. |
| Completed_Date | The date it actually happened — blank means it's overdue or pending. |
| Variance_Found | Yes/No flag for whether the count turned up a discrepancy. |
| Notes | Follow-up context, like a recount already booked. |
Where a spreadsheet schedule breaks down
A spreadsheet schedule works as a plan. It doesn't enforce itself: nothing stops a scheduled week from passing with Completed_Date left blank, and nothing surfaces that gap unless someone opens the sheet and checks manually.
It also doesn't connect the schedule to the actual count sheet — you still fill out a separate stock count sheet for each scheduled zone and manually cross-reference which SKUs were due, which is where cycle programs quietly fall behind once more than one or two people are running them.
